Have you ever wanted to weave a memoir from the threads of your life’s journey? Or, perhaps, compose a novella from a story unraveling in your mind? Maybe you’ve wanted to create a poem capturing the essence of your emotions as you witnessed a natural wonder unfolding. Has the voice of the writer within you become silent? If so, you may want to join the LWW Writer’s Club – a group of amateurs and professionals alike that share a passion for literature, grammar, and the musings of syntax. The Club meets once per month to engage in exercises & conversation that encourage creative juices to flow and develop. Through shared work we polish our own skills and broaden our perspective of how best to record our inner voices.
Meetings are held on the fourth Monday of each month, from 2 – 4pm in the Rosebud Room (lower level of the Community Center). All you need to bring is a pen & paper (or your electronic device if that is your preference) and a desire to write. Sharing work is always optional.

Member of the Lake Wildwood Writer’s Group since 2024. Billy Warren was born and raised in a South Brooklyn neighborhood under the shadow of the local Polish Catholic church steeples and the watchful gaze of the Statue of Liberty. He is 2nd generation Polish American whose ancestors immigrated to America around 1910. He is a graduate of Brooklyn Tech HS, City College of New York BS ’75, and San Jose State U. MA ’81. He remains grateful and proud of his Polish and Brooklyn heritages, and public school educations. Today, he writes historical literary fiction full time from northern California. He is married, father of two sons, and a male breast cancer survivor.
Fathers and Sons and Other Village Idiots is a historical fiction taken from the newspapers of 1969; a literary story of an old man battling the generational divides of his family; an inspirational tale of a soul striving to achieve a desire.
Kazimierz, a 77-year-old Polish Catholic immigrant, is seeking redemption from a god he has been badmouthing for years. He needs to reconcile with this god and do it soon.
1969 is a year in New York City filled with City College campus occupations, Greenwich Village Stonewall Inn riots, and Central Park war protects. Along his journey, Kaz receives support from historic underdogs including a Black Madonna, Ivan Turgenev, Dorothy Day, and the New York Mets.

Mac’s writing “career” began in high school as the editor of his school newspaper during his senior year. The idea of writing a series like this stemmed from reading the classic Chip Hilton books written by Clair Bee, mostly in the 1950s. From start to finish, the 12-book Rob Mathews Sports Series project “only” took 28 years to complete . . . family, coaching, and work kept getting in the way!
A completed series of 12 books by Mac McGowan that is sure to capture your interest! The series follows Rob Mathews chronologically through his high school career, in either a football, basketball, or baseball season. Watch as he faces bitter rivals in all three sports . . . and questions of morals, ethics, integrity, and social interaction, on and off the field of play. Through Rob, his mother, the girl-next-door, his best friend, a special girlfriend, and two memorable coaches, the reader will learn life lessons along with the characters . . . but make no mistake . . . action-packed sports are at the heart of every book.
